#StandsWithImmigrants on the PBS NewsHour! And a Tech Test

Last Tuesday we beta tested some exciting new mobile phone technology to deliver our subjects' audio story to audiences at upcoming installation sites. If you want to try it for yourself, just open the "camera" app in your iPhone and hold it up to this QR code    

...and follow the prompt to learn more about one of our future subjects, Mohamad Ali, CEO of Carbonite.

During the test projection, PBS Newshour came out and filmed a segment for an upcoming story.  Here they are interviewing one of our subjects, Jennis, who appears in the original photo at the State House.  

Thanks to some back channel donations to the project we're nearly 80% funded!  With one more week to go, we hope to harness all the sharing power you can generate by pushing this project to people who care.

Boston Public Garden

Of all of our projection locations, the Boston Public Garden has been the most magical and engaging projection site yet. As a professional photographer and journalist, my life’s work is to tell visually compelling and thought provoking stories. My photographs have been published on the cover of publications the world over.  But never has anyone sworn out loud, 'Holy S#*t' when confronted by one of my photos.  Never have people stopped, stared and willingly chatted for 30 minutes about feelings an image brings up. Yet, at the Public Garden it happened over and over again. I’m enlivened by this process of storytelling because it is so effective at cutting through the noise of our everyday existence.  It is unexpected.  It mysterious.  It is beautiful.  And I’m so excited to explore it further.  

Fenway

Mounting the $50k projector on the edge of a 100 ft. drop was slightly terrifying.

A time lapse camera clicking away while we work.  Can you see us?  Results are below.  As with many of our locations, what we think will work in the daylight, doesn't exactly turn out to be what is best when the sun sets.

The late crew - Dylan, Carrie, Antigoni and Fritz who worked late into the night to make the shot happen. Not included but hugely important was Mike Ivins and Matt Thomas from the Red Sox and our project manager Chris.
